You are correct! In 2010, Jean Paul Maulder and Mark Vermearen did claimed to have discovered a "e1b1" gene in Hitler's DNA. Ashkenazi Jews and African Jews both have this gene.
The subject, however, was not Hitler's remains. The remains of Hitler are not accessible to the general public or outside researchers. Jean and Mark claimed to have located 39 living relatives of Adolf Hitler and obtained DNA samples from them for their study. They did not back it up with proof tho.
